In this context, Release Manager is used to combine a number of functions and activities under the more generic term of release management. The assignments that accept, and perform, focus on one or more aspects of these functions and activities.
- You will be responsible for the full release from startup to release delivery and putting into production including: defining & executing release/program processes, escalating obstacles, driving constant improvements and supporting the assurance period.
- You will support the identification and collection of release content.
- You will create and maintain release planning and be responsible for release implementation.
- You identify release risks and issues, define and maintain a plan to counter them, and escalate to the appropriate responsible parties.
- You will be responsible for the development, delivery, management and improvements of how IT is used within the organization.
- You ensure that changes to IT services happen in a coordinated manner including the “lifestyle” of change and this with minimal impact on these services.
- You report release status to management and all involved parties. If necessary, define the minimum set of reports and documents and be responsible for their qualitative implementation.
- The focus of the Release Manager is on release planning and delivery, quality of the release process and identified deliverables. Therefore, identify opportunities to improve grades and remove unneeded activities from the release process. You create, follow up and maintain the plan to achieve this.
- Define, maintain, and communicate release schedule and release content.
- Define, maintain, and communicate detailed plans to execute the release plan.
- Get approval on the release plan and release content from those responsible and key stakeholders.
- Analyze release processes and define a quality improvement’s plan.
- Identify release risks and problems and avoid them. If necessary, define and implement a plan to resolve it.
- Define, maintain, and execute release/program processes.
- Identify and implement improvements and create a culture of constant improvement
- Design, improve, manage, and implement IT Service Management processes.
- Introduce, maintain, and lead the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and/or Change Control Board (CCB).
- Define, collect, track and report progress.
- Create and maintain release KPIs, and report on them on a regular basis.
- Organize and manage necessary meetings.
