Looking back on my start at M2Q – Kathy

January 12, 2015, the day I started at M2Q. A day I haven’t regretted for a moment to this day.

I studied Trade-Language Tourism so Testing is something completely outside of that course. But my interest was piqued when I worked at BASE as a Billing & Rating support agent. One of the tasks was to check that all the changes to the release were ok. Back then, I didn’t know this was UAT testing. Because of this task and because of staff shortages at BASE’s testing team, I was asked if I wouldn’t like to come give them a hand. That’s how I found that testing is really something I enjoy doing after all. I then started looking for a job within testing. After a few unsuccessful interviews, I ended up at M2Q through a headhunter. From the very first conversation with Jürgen, I immediately had a very good feeling. The feeling that I was less of a number and more of a person. After a few good interviews, I was finally hired. I was immediately allowed to take all kinds of courses to expand my knowledge because at the end of the day, I didn’t have a technical degree and not super much experience yet. But my interest and desire to learn was very strong. After just a few weeks, I had my very first certificate in! Now we could look for a fun project to start. No sooner said than done. After a few months, I ended up at PSA. I am still working there to this day. That will be about 6 years by now. The projects are usually much shorter but shipping, containers and inland waterways have always interested me, so I still stick around a bit. As long as the opportunity is there and I can continue to educate myself in the meantime, that’s fine.

About that tutoring, another plus to M2Q! You can take almost any course that interests you. This can be a course that can grow you personally or a course that can broaden your knowledge. It doesn’t matter. As long as you can grow in 1 way or another. That still gives you a chance to continue to expand your knowledge and stay abreast of everything.

As just said, personal approach, that’s something I still experience and find so important. At M2Q, you are treated as a person and not just another employee within the company. The approach is personal and real. You can be free in what you do and what you want to do. You will have every opportunity to develop into who you want to be.

Team meetings, the annual team event and the annual Christmas dinner are also things I look forward to each time. Seeing the colleagues again! Or seeing colleagues for the first time. Since we are all on projects we see each other little or not at all.

At the team meetings, we talk briefly about where M2Q is now, what we are doing and what we are going to do. After or before, we can grab a bite to eat and catch up. So a mix of work and fun.

The annual team event is usually a super fun activity combined with great food! What more do you want actually. In 2021, something special was arranged by Jurgen. In 2020, M2Q celebrated its 15th anniversary and we were able to celebrate this together (including partner) in Reims. We were given a team building gift in the champagne region. What fun that was! A fantastic weekend.

The annual Christmas dinner is also something I always look forward to. Good food and catching up with colleagues. That’s always a super fun evening!

For all these reasons, I feel very happy at M2Q! I will hopefully be able to be the happy employee for several more years!
