Atrias rolled out a new data platform across Belgium in November 2021 to better manage the usage data of every electricity and gas consumer in our country (see also VRT article). It was necessary, it sounds from different quarters. But recently, software problems are surfacing that are inconvenient for consumers. Software problems at suppliers and grid operators continue to severely disrupt the handling of thousands of energy contracts.
Obviously, software testing is very important before you put something into production. During the round of testing, not only the happy path flows should be tested, but also the exceptions and negative flows, in order to get an overview of where problems might arise. Hence the importance of implementing quality procedures throughout the entire process.
This reiterates the importance of thinking about quality from the beginning of the process and providing sufficient time for testing. The Shift Left approach has never been more important!
